The Sisnupani Nepal organised a Desui programme on the occasion of Tihar festival in Kathmandu on Sunday.
The organisation has been organising the Deusi programme every Tihar as an occasion to satirise various political and social misconducts.Organised at the Nepal Academy Hall, the celebratory programme was attended by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal also.
Other members of the audience included former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Chairperson of the Council of Ministers Khilraj Regmi and Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki.Artiste duo Manoj Gajurel and Sitaram Kattel ‘Dhurmus’ masqueraded as Prime Minister Dahal and former PM Oli respectively. Their performance not only stole the show, but their impeccable caricature also attracted attention from the sitting and former PMs.
Poet Sailendra Simkhada, singers Sishir Yogi and Kamalikanta parodied recently suspended Chief of Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Lok Man Singh Karki.
Similarly, Deusi, the cultural performance, was played by Sisnupani Nepal’s General-Secretary Tanka Prasad Acharya, Laxman Gamnage and Dhirendra Premarshi, among others.
Present at the programme were Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri, Chief Secretary Somlal Subedi, historian Satya Mohan Joshi, Rastrakavi Madhav Ghimire and various personalities.
PM Dahal said the event was fun and expressed his confidence that the new Constitution would be enforced by next year’s Deusi programme.
Likewise, in all praise for such event, former Prime Minister KP Oli stated events as such help preserve cultures and provide direction to the society.
